I think I'm going to try to blog about what happens overseas... If I don't write often, you'll know it's because I don't have the net. I'm afraid of that. After getting so comfy with my laptop this year, I'm not sure how I'll survive without Facebook, my Google Reader, Google in general... I'll miss shopping online whenever I think I really really need something... like "In search of lost time" which I bought a few days ago. I'm going to read it while I'm there. I've heard it takes about 8 months. So I'll have to take a few more books too, I suppose. It'll be fine, right?

But think of all the free time you'll have!
When I moved into a place with no phoneline, it was scary - for a week or so I seriously went into withdrawals, and cracked the sads big-time! But I also eventually did find a certain comfort from the imposed solitude of being isolated from a global network that I was so used to being plugged into, 24/7.
I'm sure you'll find plenty of creative ways to pass the time, the "old fashioned" way. Take some sketch pads, notebooks and pencils. Write letters and poetry, draw pictures (hint: you don't need to be able to draw either). Take books - books that you can't live without, but don't mind if they get a bit moldy either, and find the pleasure in re-reading them.
You'll be fine. :)
I think that's a RAAAAAAD plan. I just hope you have internet! Though you'll survive without I'll miss chatting to you so easily. Still, I presume there is snailmail there. That is rad also ;)
Rom, you would love 'a fraction of the whole'... was one of the booker runners up this year.
I think we should coordinate a phone call before you go awal... for how long?
miss you from a snowy wien
My friend is in Uganda and is having an amazing time... it'll be great! :)
